Guatemala Pays A Visit To Providence!

Genevieve Jackson’s (3rd grade) Grandma (“Mune”) who is originally from Guatemala, shared with the lower school Spanish class different facts about her country. The Spanish class students sang songs in Spanish, played Spanish version games, and tasted yummy Guatemalan chocolate cookies.

Vivian and Brightly Echegoyen (also Mune’s granddaughter) wore colorful native Guatemalan outfits. Each outfit is hand-woven by the indigenous women (native Guatemalans) so every design is unique. Different designs represent different regions of the country.

Can you see Brightly perfectly balancing the basket on her head? (Hint: it was sewn to the cloth that she has on her head!)
