Speech Com 101
Did you know that a staggering 70% of Christian kids will abandon their faith once they leave home? These statistics represent kids like yours and mine that are being raised in a Christian home, attend a Christian school, and go to church regularly. These are kids that know the truth and they even know why they believe it. The predicament that occurs as they enter the world is that “they do not know how to communicate their faith in a culturally relevant way” (Teresa Moon, Institute of Cultural Communicators).
Teresa Moon was a fabulous speaker at NAUMS who has dedicated her life to training children of all ages to communicate with confidence and passion. She encourages and facilitates the students to take public platforms to impact those around them with the truth of Christ. This year she brought a dozen students to the conference and let them lead the seminars. I was BLOWN away. She has an amazing method of teaching children to command the audience that doesn’t look anything like the “speech” classes that we took years ago.
Several of our PCCA teachers, administration, and parents, are excited about implementing these techniques into all of the disciplines at Providence. I can’t wait to see what God has planned for our Communicators for Christ!
